Arrived in the main gates and some vocal beatboxing fools were playing. They were shit. 2/10
Walked over to the stands to the right of Orange stage and Sinate started playing they were too angry for so early on and were shit. --> 3/10
Next was Eskimo Joe on the Blue stage. They were great. They managed to play all my favourite songs from both albums which was fantastic. They also had a pretty good stage presence especially considering how early they played --> 8.0/10
Saw the start of the Trivium set, but they played shit songs which I didn't know and the mixing was absolutely terrible. I couldn't hear the guitars at all and vocals were overpowering as hell. I'll assume that they eventually played the good songs. --> 4.5/10
Cruised over to Little Birdy afterwards on the Converse stage. They were even better than I thought they'd be, they suffered from some shit mixing and the treble stabbed my ears but overall a great set. I'm stoked they played their cover of 6 Months In A Leaky Boat :D --> 7.5/10
On the green stage were C4's favourite band The Tutts. We all just wanted to hear them play 'K' but their actual set wasn't too bad. It was all pretty similar apart from the vocalist's favourite song but it was a good sound and suitably mixed. --> 7/10
Rocked on down to the stands before Blindspott played. To be honest I hate the new material. It has shit melodies, shit drumming and throw away guitar riffs. All the old stuff was just as cool as always. I think we ended up only catching the very last few seconds of their best song: Mind Dependency. --> 5/10
My Chemical Romance. Yes they were there and yes I was told that there was a lack of anyone over the age of 18 in the mosh pit. From what I saw from behind the D Barrier it was pretty much standard MCR affair. They do what they do well and if you're into that stuff then you probably had a great time. Personally I only like about 5 of their songs and they only played 2 of those songs so... --> 2/5 = 4/10 --> + 3 for 3mo = 7/10
The next hour was a bit of a waste. I was supposed to see Lily Allen but didn't get anywhere near close enough to enjoy it so we bailed. I'm guessing she put on a good show, not sure what I like about her... Maybe it's her accent. After that we caught Evermore. They were average. I didn't even catch Ride On. --> 3 for the hour overall + 2 for Lily's accent = 5/10
Ok... So then there was the epic 5hrs 45minutes spent in the D Barrier in front of Blue and Orange stage. Jet was the first band up. They were good. There was some good energy. I didn't really intend on seeing them but had decided to get a spot for the rest of the 3 big acts. Fave song: Are you gonna be my girl?--> 7.5/10
Next in the D zone was... Scribe? I have no fucking idea why the fuck they decided to put him between Jet and The Killers, two ROCK acts, but it was a poor move. He used a decent amount of guitar but the Rapping was pretty tacky. He did a cover of Jimi Hendrix's Hey Joe but it was pretty stale and far too self-indulgent. Does he have any songs which aren't about himself? --> 4/10
After a 10 minute delay The Killers decided to turn it on for us. The mosh pit was pretty awesome and given the lightness of their music, it was pretty savage! 'When you were young' and 'Mr Brightside' totally went off and I was really feeling it. The live perfomance was also quite true to the studio versions. It was well done. They played a great set and had a good set order, giving people a chance to catch their breath between faster paced songs. --> 8.5/10
Muse... They were just fucking amazing. Matt Bellamy is my musical god. He was pretty much the coolest mother fucker at the entire festival. He dominated that guitar and Mic. Muse put on for me, probably the most energetic show out of them all. The stage presence was only surpassed by Tool and in saying that I probably rocked out to Muse even more than Tool. Only thing I was gutted about is that they didn't play Sunburn, Bliss or In Your World. Other than that, pure brilliance. --> 9.5/10
Finally after 4hrs 15minutes hours of standing, moshing, singing and/or screaming the headliners played. I spent most of the set in total awe. Tool completely owned everything. They played an awesome set apart from not playing Parabola and playing Jambi which is probably my least favourite song off 10,000 days. The most unexpected part was when Serj from System Of A Down had a guest appearance when they played Sober. It was intense to say the least. The images on the screens behind the band were disturbing and extremely trippy. All in all it was fucking brilliant and I kind of feel personally violated by Maynard... In the best possible way. I look forward to seeing them when they come back at the end of the year :D --> 9.5/10
So that was that: the big fucking day out. It was something that I'll never forget. Good times indeed.
